NDU fully supports BGE’s continued conduit system improvement and maintenance program and the investment required to keep Baltimore’s underground electrical infrastructure safe and reliable.
Infrastructure investments matter when they deliver measurable benefits. BGE's improvement work to the Baltimore City-owned conduit has directly supported a safer and more resilient electric system by enhancing underground infrastructure, reducing the risk of underground fires, and preparing the network for future energy needs. But Baltimore City is abandoning this successful public-private partnership and hiking fees knowing customers will pay more. More troubling, the City currently has no plan for pace of conduit improvements moving forward and will use higher fees to pay for new overhead costs.
