The first proposed fix is rarely the right one.

Verified flow data found the real cause, no shutdown and far less cost.

Have you seen data change the direction of a fix? Drop it in the comments.

On paper the system is balanced. In the field it does not always stay that way.

Piping gets routed around a real obstacle. A valve lands where the drawing did not expect. Controls and mechanical drift a step out of sync.
None of these is a disaster alone, but together they are why a system that looked right at design review behaves differently once it is live.

The fix is to design with field reality in mind from the start, so the small gaps never get the chance to stack up.

What field reality do you wish showed up earlier in the design conversation?

Without accurate measurement, system decisions quickly become guesswork.

Accurate flow and energy data changes that. When you can see real flow across a hydronic or domestic water system, you can validate it against design intent instead of assuming. ONICON ultrasonic meters do this without shutting anything down, which is why design engineers and energy managers reach for them in high-performance buildings.

You cannot fix what you cannot see. Verified data is what makes performance predictable.

On your projects, how are you confirming flow today?

The system either works on day one or it doesn't, and that answer lives in the design.

Being in the conversation early is the difference.

What design decision do you think has the biggest field impact? Drop it in the comments.

A pressure gauge can read perfectly while the system is starving for flow.

Pressure is the force. Flow is what actually carries the heating and cooling capacity. When a branch is restricted or a pump is oversized to compensate, the gauge can still look healthy while the system quietly falls short of design.

The way to know for sure is to measure real flow at design conditions and compare it to intent, rather than trusting pressure as a stand-in.

Flow that performs is flow that was verified against the design.

When you want to confirm a system is truly at design flow, what is your go-to check?

Getting an accurate flow reading in the field isn't always about the meter, it's about how and where it's installed.

ONICON is hosting a webinar on clamp-on ultrasonic flow measurement, and it's worth a look for anyone working through chilled water, heating hot water, condenser water, or process water systems.

The session covers how transit-time ultrasonic measurement actually works, how to choose the right mounting locations and set transducers correctly, and where clamp-on meters make commissioning, troubleshooting, and temporary flow verification a lot simpler. There's also a live Q&A with ONICON's product experts.

If you've ever needed to verify flow without shutting a system down, this is a practical one.

A small detail in the specification can become a much bigger issue once the system is operating.

Clear performance expectations early help engineering, commissioning, and test and balance teams evaluate the system with fewer surprises in the field.

A rep that represents too many lines cannot know any of them well enough.

Our manufacturer line is intentionally limited. That is not a gap. That is the point.

Deep expertise on fewer products means we know where the edge cases are
We know which product fits which application and which one looks right on paper but fails in the field.

Every product we specify is one we can support from design through commissioning and beyond.

Specifying from a partner who knows the product the way you know the system is how you protect your reputation and your schedule.

If you have a project in the design phase in Georgia, we are glad to support your team.

We bring the session to you.

Our training sessions are built for engineering and controls teams who want practical system insight they can actually use, not a product catalog walkthrough.

We cover flow system behavior, straight run requirements, signal types, commissioning realities, and common field issues that show up on real projects. Every session is tailored to the applications your team works on.

If your team would benefit from a session like this, reach out through our contact form or email us directly and tell us what you are working through.

When air enters through gaps instead of designed entry points, you lose control of humidity, air quality, and energy costs all at once.

Accurate measurement of supply and exhaust air is what makes control possible, estimating it is not the same thing.
