From snakes to high-rolling resistance radial tires--California’s tire ban is putting a new spin on the Texas’ born Gadsden flag

How many people think California is overstepping antitrust laws by forcing residents into a tiny list of ‘approved’ tire brands and types -- all for a benefit that many experts say is exaggerated at best?

How many mom & pop shops, tire shop chains, and or even tire companies are going to be affected by this and the economic impact this will create when they monopolize the cost of tires for already exhausted Californian's?

When the state limits consumer choice to a handful of manufacturers, that’s not environmental policy… that’s forced customer capture. Let’s see what everyone thinks in the comments.

California is moving forward with tire regulations that will wipe out over 70% of the tires people actually use -- especially the softer‑compound tires that create traction and keep cars safe.

And here’s the kicker: They’re tying tire compliance to smog registration. Meaning you won’t be able to just drive to Nevada, Arizona, or Oregon to buy the tires you want. If your tires don’t meet the new code, no tag.

We want to hear what everyone else thinks about this. Is this going to crash and burn like the straw ban?

There’s a whole generation that learned “mechanic skills” from necessity, not YouTube. Push‑starts. Hill‑starts. Running jumps. Timing the clutch like a magician. Praying the engine catches before you run out of road.
