An entrance deserves to be seen — not buried.

This home’s front walkway had disappeared behind years of overgrown hydrangea, crowding the path and hiding the architecture guests should see first.

Our design/build team reimagined the arrival experience entirely: a formal green-and-white composition of boxwood and roses, layered low to open sightlines to the façade and frame the entry with quiet elegance.

The result is a first impression that feels curated, not accidental — exactly what a home of this caliber deserves.

Four columnar hornbeams anchor this fire pit area, their narrow, upright form creating a sense of enclosure without ever blocking the sky. It’s less about physical coverage and more about feeling held — like the space wraps around you. Structured boxwood grounds the design with year-round form, while drifts of allium bring seasonal color and movement.

The result? An intimate outdoor room that feels private and secluded, even in an open yard. Just fire, greenery, and quiet.

🪨 From the shoreline to the ravine — boulder work built to last.

This project took us along Lake Michigan, where we placed large-format boulders to stabilize the shoreline and create a natural, rugged transition between land and water. Just as challenging: the ravine boulder work further inland, where steep grades and erosion control called for precision placement and serious engineering.

None of this happens solo. Huge thanks to our partner for bringing the equipment, expertise, and grit needed to get these boulders exactly where they needed to be — safely and beautifully.

Boulder work like this isn’t just about aesthetics. It’s slope stabilization, erosion control, and long-term site protection — built to hold up against Michigan winters, lake effect, and everything in between.

We had the honor of prepping this front yard for an upcoming wedding, and it’s blooming just in time! 💍

We tucked in gorgeous hydrangeas for that classic, romantic fullness, paired with a mix of colorful annuals to keep things vibrant all season long. The result? A front entrance that welcomes guests with the same warmth and beauty as the celebration inside.
