This was the project that started it all.

My first real hardwood project, built for my daughter’s nursery. At the time, I was just trying to make something unique and useful for her room. I didn’t realize I was also building the foundation for what would become a love for designing and building furniture.

Looking back, there are definitely things I’d do differently now 😂, but I still love this piece because of what it represents.

This bench pairs a heavily figured cherry seat with solid black walnut legs, joined with exposed through-tenons and floating walnut keys. Every mark in the cherry tells part of its history, while the clean walnut joinery brings balance and structure.

No veneers. No shortcuts. Just carefully selected hardwoods, traditional joinery, and hours of shaping, fitting, and finishing by hand.

I love creating pieces that feel equally at home in a modern space or one that’s been lived in for generations.
