We LOVE peppers! 🌶️🔥
We love the heat, the flavor, and finding ways to preserve them so we can enjoy them all year long. All summer our two dehydrators are humming away making chili flakes for pizza and chili crisp. And a jar of pickled cherry peppers on a sandwich? Chef’s kiss! 👨🍳💋
What we really love are peppers with a story.
The Datil pepper made its way from Spain to St. Augustine before the United States was even founded. The Jimmy Nardello pepper traveled through Ellis Island tucked in the pocket of an Italian immigrant. And the Aji Amarillo pepper in Peru is about as common as ketchup at a cookout, a staple ingredient in Peruvian cooking that goes back thousands of years to the Incas.
Around here we grow plenty of the classics too, cayenne, cherry peppers, poblano, serrano, and jalapeño. They all end up in the kitchen one way or another.
Peppers bring the heat, the flavor, and a little history to the garden. And we’re here for all of it. 🌶️
