Your yard should be a part of nature, not apart from it.
"Tradescantia virginiana", commonly known as "Virginia Spiderwort" is a native flowering plant. Bumblebees are major pollenators of this plant, but hummingbirds and butterflies also join in on the fun. Let them eat!
This owner likes to let these bloom for about a month each Spring (I mow around them), though technically they will flower through July. Eventually they get mowed over and become part of the turf where you'd never know they're hiding, until we see them next year!
