Supporting our military goes far beyond displaying a flag—it means standing behind the families who carry the weight of service every single day. They are the quiet strength behind every uniform.
Living in Key West—a proud military community—and marrying into a military family has given me a deeper understanding of what this life truly asks of those who serve and those who stand beside them. Through shared stories, I’ve come to know the resilience it takes to build a life in unfamiliar places, far from extended family, and to find strength during long stretches when one—and sometimes even both—parents are away in service for months at a time.
And at the heart of these families are the children—military kids who grow up faster than most, learning to adapt to constant change, new schools, and long stretches without a parent at home. They show a kind of strength and courage that often goes unrecognized, building friendships quickly and saying goodbye just as fast.
These families sacrifice stability, comfort, and connection so that others may feel secure. If we truly want to honor our military, we must also uplift and support the families—and especially the children—who serve alongside them in ways that often go unseen.
