This long waterfront deck went from a dated wood-railed walkway to a sleek, modern outdoor living space — built by the team at People Come First Construction Group .

🪟 Frameless Glass Railing — Runs the full length of the deck, keeping the water view completely unobstructed.
💡 Integrated LED Lighting — Built into the railing posts for a soft blue glow that makes the deck just as stunning after sunset as it is in the daytime.
🪨 New Tile Decking — Large-format tile replaced the old wood boards for a clean, modern finish underfoot.

Building a Deck & ALMOST Hit a Gas Line! 😱

The frame is up, the decking is down, and we're working on borders, dividers, and stairs. One staircase is in, the landing is set, and footings are dug — but things got spicy when we realized the gas line runs right along the edge of our footing holes. Luckily we missed it. If we had to cut it, the homeowners would've lost propane to their furnace and oven. Big win for them!

The original outdoor space on this Bothell, WA home was fairly simple: a small second-story wood deck overlooking the backyard with an open patio underneath.
It worked as a basic deck, but it didn’t take full advantage of the home’s outdoor space.

The homeowners wanted to think much bigger.

Rather than simply replacing the existing deck, the plan was to completely rebuild this portion of the home into a multi-level outdoor living environment with a larger deck, a full gabled patio cover above, and a finished dry patio underneath.

Cutting & Raising Floor Joists Without Disaster — Deck Support System Explained
