The original outdoor space on this home started with a fairly typical second-story wood deck. It provided a place to step outside from the upper level of the home, but it was relatively small, completely exposed to the weather, and offered limited protection from the rain and sun.

The homeowners wanted something much more substantial.
Instead of simply replacing the existing deck, the plan was to completely rethink this portion of the home and create a multi-level outdoor living space that could be used through much more of the year.

Another backyard transformation in the books! This one features a custom aluminum Hercules patio cover finished in Bronze, built to extend this family's living space right off the back of their home.

Another backyard, fully transformed. ✨

This Kent, WA project came together with a full custom patio cover system — a smooth colonial white undercover ceiling framed in PT lumber, finished with gutters and a clean tight-line drainage run so water is routed away without a single downspout in sight. Add in sleek black-framed railings with glass infill for an unobstructed view, motorized privacy screens built right into the design, and warm riser + deck lighting for the evenings — and this deck went from a weekend project to a true outdoor living room.

From bare backyard to full-on outdoor living space! 🏡✨

Swipe through to see this Lake Forest, WA backyard's full transformation. We started with a full demo — old concrete slab, stump grinding, and a small roof structure removed — cleared the site, and relocated an existing tree to the front yard to open things up.

From there we built a custom trussed patio cover, centered right on the home's slider door, with:

🔹 Vaulted cedar tongue-and-groove soffit ceiling at a 4/12 pitch 🔹 Two skylights for natural light, flanked by doubled trusses 🔹 Black hardware, white gutters with downspouts, and black soffit vents 🔹 5 recessed can lights + a ceiling fan on remote, plus 2 Bromic infrared heaters for year-round comfort.

Underneath, we installed a 20'11" TERRAIN composite deck in Natural White Oak with Dark Oak fascia and border accents, mitered corners, and hidden camo fasteners — finished with a picture-framed stair (4' wide, dark oak risers, white treads) landing on a Belgard paver pad.

Wrapping it all in is black aluminum picket railing with a matching gate, surface-mounted with riser lighting for evening ambiance.

One more backyard turned into a space this family will actually want to live in. 🙌
