My mom's art from high-schoolโก
She use to spend a lot of time being creative, before life got hard. When she got sick, I had plans to convert a room (the room her husband passed of cancer) into a peaceful, happy space for art, but depression and cancer took it's toll in so many ways.
Even though I never got to make her that studio space, God was there during all of it. When I look at this brass rose, I picture her young, beautiful, and full of hope, happiness and a bright future. Now she is experiencing a glorious reality wilder than any dream, so much more than she could've ever imagined. Surrounded by a million flowers, with a healthy body, light, love, and her loved ones. She is bursting with happiness in a paradise I can't fathom. With my dad and step-dad and so many others I miss.. more than words can describe. God's creation is a masterpiece of art. I can only image what heaven is like. I can only imagine mom's "art space" that God had waiting for her! It has to be beyond amazing. I can only imagine!
It's remarkable the emotions that a piece of art can bring to the surface. All the moms who pull that macaroni necklace out of their jewelry cabinet can picture their child small again and smile with happiness while weeping over a time that's now moved on. The beautiful scribbled art we keep. Having a piece of their art is like having a piece of their soul, there's connection there. We can look at a stranger's art and have an instant emotional connection. Sometimes good, sometimes bad, sometimes we don't know what we feel but we keep staring as it pulls us in.
Today my thoughts and desires for my art are shifting. I crave something for my creative journey that I can't quite articulate. Maybe that's the point. What do I create now? My soul wants to express something that my mind tries to put into a neat little box.
