Over the weekend, we had the chance to spend some time with the next generation of skilled professionals at the Big Brothers Big Sisters Kansas City's Careers in the Trades Networking Day!

Patrick Burns (Estimator/Project Manager) and Scott Lloyd (Senior Project Manager) connected one-on-one with more than a dozen high school students interested in careers in construction and the skilled trades. Through speed networking and plenty of conversation, they shared their experiences, answered questions, and offered a firsthand look at the opportunities available in our industry.

Thanks to for giving us the opportunity to share what we know, meet some great students, and help introduce young people to careers in construction!

Today, on National Intern Day, we'd like to thank Cadyn Parrott (Construction Engineering Technology, MoWest) for spending part of his summer with the Hoy Excavating team!

From learning about excavation and site development to spending time alongside our crews in the field, Cadyn embraced every opportunity to ask questions, develop new skills, and gain a better understanding of the work that goes into every project.

We also enjoyed welcoming the full intern team from Clarkson and Global to spend time with us this summer. Showing students our office, introducing them to our projects and equipment, and giving them a closer look at the work we do is one of the best ways to share what makes Hoy unique.

Best of luck to all of this summer's interns as they return to campus — we can't wait to see what you do next!
