Earlier this month, Safety and Claims team members representing Clarkson Construction Company, Global Earthwork & Underground, and Hoy Excavating came together for our first annual Safety Summit.

The day gave our teams an opportunity to connect and collaborate across companies, review plans for the year ahead, and share ideas to continue elevating safety across our operations.

We made time for some team building and fun, too, with great food, prizes, and a little friendly competition at Topgolf.

We're grateful for the continued investment in our safety programs and, most importantly, the people who lead them every day. Bringing our teams together helps us learn from one another, strengthen our approach, and continue building a safer workplace for every employee.

At Hoy Excavating, our work starts before the equipment ever moves.

Before each shift, our operators take the time to complete a thorough pre-operational inspection of their machines — checking fluid levels, looking for leaks or wear, greasing critical components, clearing windows and mirrors, and testing alarms, lights, brakes, and other safety features.

It may be part of the daily routine, but these checks play an important role in keeping our equipment running safely, reliably, and our jobs moving forward.

As Construction Su***de Prevention Week comes to a close, the message we've shared across our jobsites doesn't stop here: 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸 𝗜𝗻. 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸 𝗨𝗽.

Take the time to know your crew, check in when someone seems off, and speak up when you need support or when you're concerned about someone else.

As the sun came up this morning, our crews gathered for a Construction Su***de Prevention Week stand-down and an important conversation about looking out for one another.

Our message was simple: 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸 𝗜𝗻. 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸 𝗨𝗽.

Know your crew, pay attention when someone doesn't seem like themselves, ask the questions, listen to the answer, and don't be afraid to speak up when you or someone else needs support.

The tough stuff doesn't have to be handled alone. Looking out for one another is part of being a team — both on the jobsite and beyond.

Looking out for your crew goes beyond the work happening on the jobsite. This week, Hoy is recognizing Construction Su***de Prevention Week and joining companies across our industry in starting important conversations around mental health and su***de prevention.

Our message to the team is simple: 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸 𝗜𝗻. 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸 𝗨𝗽.

Know your crew, take time to ask how someone is doing, and really listen to the answer. If something doesn't seem right, don't be afraid to say something. And if you're the one who needs support, know that speaking up is a sign of strength.

Our Safety Team will be connecting with crews throughout the week to share available resources, and most importantly, remind everyone that no one has to handle the tough stuff alone.

Doing right by our people means looking out for the whole person, on the job and beyond!
