A 2cm marble slab in a second-floor powder room is not your typical flooring install.

This took early planning, precise finished floor elevation adjustments, temporary framing removal, and a skilled team to get the stone safely lifted and set in place.

Thank you to Construction Resources for the fabrication and lift, and The Hardwood Flooring & Tile Guys LLC for the install.

Some selections require more than good taste. They require planning, coordination, and the right team to bring them to life.

For this second-floor powder room, the client selected a 2cm marble slab for the floor. It is a beautiful material, but not a typical installation — especially when it needs to be lifted into place and installed in a way that aligns perfectly with the surrounding finished flooring.

Our team began preparing for finished floor elevations early, during the planning and floor system design phases. The main floor tile selected for this area was a large-format tile, which is typically thicker and requires a thicker setting material. That can bring the finished floor elevation to 1” or more. The powder room marble was 2cm, or approximately .79”, so adjustments had to be made to ensure both materials would finish flush at the door threshold.

From there, the logistics became just as important as the design. Construction Resources fabricated the stone and lifted it into place with their machine. The Hardwood Flooring and Tile Guys handled the install. To allow the slab to be laid on a horizontal plane and eased into place, our team temporarily removed the framing from the entry wall. Once the stone was released into the mud bed, the wall could be reframed, sound insulation completed, and drywall continued.

This is the part of custom home building that most people never see, but it is what makes the finished result possible.

At this level, luxury is not only about the selections. It is about understanding what those selections require, planning for them early, and executing them with precision.

Our first Curious Builder Collective exceeded every expectation.

What started as a room full of builders quickly became a meaningful discussion filled with honest conversations, shared experiences, practical takeaways, and new relationships. It was a reminder that some of the best ideas in our industry come from simply getting builders together and creating space for open dialogue.

We're excited to announce our next session:

On this Seabrook Island beachfront property, the original home was demolished to make way for something far more intentional — a custom home created as a legacy property for our clients.

Building on the coast requires more than a beautiful design. It requires vision, precision, and a deep respect for the land, the elements, and the generations who will gather here long after the final detail is complete.

This is what custom building is meant to be: a home with presence, purpose, and a story that will live well beyond the build.

Inside this Wild Dunes home on Isle of Palms, every space was shaped with intention. From the quiet details to the refined finishes, each decision was part of creating a home that reflects the way this family wanted to live, gather, retreat, and enjoy life on the coast.

That is where custom building matters most. It is not about simply filling a home with beautiful materials. It is about understanding how each room should feel, how the spaces should connect, and how the details should support the life being built inside the home.

For our team, that level of care is what turns a house into something deeply personal.

Luxury is not just about finishes — it is about thoughtfulness, restraint, engineering, craft, and a deep understanding of place.

We loved this perspective from Robb Report's interview with architect Tom Kundig because it speaks to something we believe deeply at CopeGrand: the most exceptional homes are not simply designed to impress. They are designed to belong.

That is what we help our clients create — homes where the visible beauty is supported by the quiet details that protect, strengthen, and endure for generations.

In a neighborhood of white coastal homes, this one was designed to quietly stand apart.

The warm tan exterior gives the home a presence of its own — refined, intentional, and still deeply connected to its surroundings. It doesn’t compete with the neighborhood or the coastline. It complements them in a way that feels timeless and thoughtfully considered.

That is one of the things we love about custom building. Every decision has the opportunity to tell part of the story, from the color of the exterior to the way the home sits within the landscape.

Luxury does not always have to be loud to be noticed. Sometimes, the most memorable homes are the ones that feel confident enough to be different.

Some homes don’t need to be reinvented. They need to be understood.

This downtown Charleston restoration was about honoring what was already there while carefully bringing new life, function, and craftsmanship back into the space.

Before and after photos tell part of the story — but the real transformation is in the decisions made along the way. The details preserved. The structure respected. The vision carried through with care.

Historic homes require more than construction. They require patience, perspective, and the right team to bring the next chapter to life.

The difference between a good paint job and an exceptional one is often in the steps most people never see.

On this project, our painters are moving through a high-level finish process: primer, Bondo, sanding, re-prime, Bondo, primer and paint again — each step building on the one before it to create the final result.

It takes patience. It takes precision. And it takes a team that refuses to rush what deserves to be done right.

We’re grateful to work alongside painters who are truly some of the best in the business. Their craftsmanship shows up in the details, the finish, and the way a home feels when every surface has been handled with care.

This is the kind of work that quietly separates a beautiful home from an exceptional one.

Most people walk right past the details… we sit in them.

Sometimes it’s as simple as grabbing a chair (or a bucket) and slowing down long enough to really see the space—every line, every reveal, every decision that got us here.

This round window?

It’s not just trim. It’s craftsmanship. It’s intention. It’s choosing better over easier.

Because the smallest details don’t just finish a home… they define it.

And we celebrate them every step of the way.
