Before the walls go up, the frame has to come together. These large timber sections are called bents. This one was hand-cut by Vermont Frames and is ready for the next step: adding SIP panels to enclose the structure.

It's not every day you get to see craftsmanship like this up close!

From the impressive exposed timber beams to the detailed framing throughout, this home is really starting to take shape.

Our crew has been busy installing LVL headers, framing garage door openings, and making sure every measurement is right. Meanwhile, has been bringing the timber structure together, creating a beautiful contrast between the natural woodwork and the surrounding Vermont landscape.

We're looking forward to seeing this one continue to come together!

A quick site update: the timber frame is taking shape, and temporary safety rails are in place along the open edges. With a walkout basement and a significant drop-off at the back, keeping the site safe is part of the work at every stage.

It’s always a good day when there’s a crane on site, especially when a timber frame is going up. This frame was cut for our project by Vermont Frames it’s exciting to see it take shape.

On this project, we’re making progress both above and below ground. 🍂

We’re spreading topsoil around the property, which creates the nutrient-rich layer needed for future grass and landscaping. We’re also installing an underground propane tank, which will store fuel for the home, and digging a trench for the fuel line that connects it to the house.

For the driveway, we’re spreading and compacting gravel, pressing it firmly into place to create a strong, stable surface that can handle vehicles and hold up over time.

It’s all part of getting the exterior of this home one step closer to finished!

What are squash blocks, and why are they in the floor framing? They help transfer the load from the timber beam down through the structure, giving that weight a clear path to the support below.

Crazy how much a project can change in just one week.

The floor system has come a long way, with sheathing going down, joists and blocking getting dialed in, and the mudroom and garage areas really starting to take shape. There’s been a lot happening behind the scenes too, from checking levels and straightening joists to sealing sill plates and making sure everything is ready for the next phase.

Now we’re getting into one of the most exciting parts of the build. The timber frame is starting to take shape, and it’s completely changing the feel of the project. Huge shoutout to for their work bringing this part of the build together. It’s always cool seeing what was on the plans start becoming the real thing.

Another big week of progress in the books. Can’t wait to see where we are a week from now.

This project is just about wrapped up, and we must say, it is a looker 👀

The last stretch was all about bringing everything across the finish line. The crew finished up the flooring, baseboards and door casings, completed the stair railings, trimmed around the track lighting, installed the screen door and worked through the final punch list.

From there, it was touch-ups, cleaning windows and beams, polishing the glass, installing screens and getting the space ready for the final walkthrough with the homeowners.

We love how this one came together, especially the exposed wood, triangle windows and all that natural light. Just a few final details left!
