Old soul, new power. ☀️
This beautiful home in Frankfort’s historic district is getting the full restoration treatment: fresh brick mortar, a brand-new standing seam metal roof, and now a 14.62 kW solar array to carry it into its next century.
The goal was to modernize without losing an ounce of the character that makes this place special. All-black panels spread across multiple roof planes follow the home’s lines instead of fighting them. And with S-5! clamps on the standing seams, not a single hole went through that brand-new roof.

PART 2: The Ultimate Solar Reset in La Grange, KY!

After stripping away the chewed wiring, loose junction boxes, and failing railless racking from Part 1, it was time to rebuild this system the right way.

Here’s how the Apollo Solar team turned this project around:
🧹 Cleared & Prepped: Swept down the metal roof and removed all old wiring debris.
📐 Upgraded Mounts: Installed a secure, heavy-duty rail-based racking system built to handle Kentucky weather.
⚡ Fresh Equipment: Placed brand-new, high-efficiency solar panels and microinverters.
🐿️ Critter Guard Defense: Added full perimeter mesh guards so birds and squirrels can’t make a home underneath ever again.

🐿️ Birds, squirrels, and a questionable install… a recipe for solar failure!

We recently got a call out to LaGrange, KY, after a homeowner noticed 3 to 4 of their Enphase microinverters went completely dark.

When our crew got up on the metal roof to inspect, we found a perfect storm:
❌ Chewed trunk cables & exposed wiring from squirrel/bird buildup
❌ Unsecured junction boxes & loose wires dragging on the roof
❌ A poor, railless racking setup causing shorts in the main breaker panel

Patching this up wasn’t going to cut it. After going over options with the homeowner, we decided on a complete Apollo Solar Reset—starting fresh with a rock-solid, rail-based mounting system, new panels, and new inverters built to last.
