The Hidden History of Asbestos Roof Tiles

Did you know asbestos was once considered a “miracle material” for roofing?

For decades, asbestos roof tiles and shingles were widely used because they were:

✔ Fire resistant
✔ Durable and long lasting
✔ Resistant to rot and insects
✔ Affordable and low maintenance

You’ll still find asbestos - containing roofing materials on some older homes and buildings today, especially those built before the 1980s.

So why did the roofing industry stop using them?

Asbestos fibers can become dangerous if the material is damaged, broken, drilled, or deteriorating over time. When disturbed, tiny fibers can become airborne and pose serious health risks if inhaled.

That’s why asbestos roofing products are no longer commonly used in modern residential roofing systems.

If you think your home may have asbestos roof tiles, don’t panic - and don’t attempt to remove them yourself.

We can help guide you through the next steps, including inspections, safe roofing recommendations, and replacement options when needed.

🏠 Not sure what type of roof you have?
We offer complimentary honest roof inspections.

☀️ In most of the country, summer officially begins on June 20th or 21st with the summer solstice… but here in Florida, many people consider June 1st the real start of summer! 🌴🔥

Why? Because June is when the intense heat, humidity, heavy rains, and hurricane season patterns really begin ramping up across the state.

And while Floridians may be ready for beach days and sunshine, your roof is about to face some of the toughest months of the year.

Summer in Florida can mean:
• Extreme attic temperatures
• Heavy afternoon storms
• High humidity and moisture buildup
• Strong winds and tropical weather
• Faster wear on older roofing materials

Now is the perfect time to make sure your roof is ready before storm season gets into full swing.

At Ready Roofing, we offer complimentary honest roof inspections to help catch small issues before they become expensive problems later in the summer. 🏠

Don’t wait until you see a leak during the next big storm.

Many meteorologists actually consider June 1st the start of summer in Florida because that’s when the hotter temperatures, humidity, and storm patterns really begin ramping up.

Now is a great time to:
• Check for missing or lifted shingles
• Inspect roof vents and flashing
• Look for signs of leaks or water stains

Florida hurricane season officially runs from June 1 through November 30, and now is the time to prepare before the storms start rolling in.

Here are a few important hurricane season tips for homeowners:

• Have your roof inspected before storm season
• Check for loose shingles, flashing, or soft spots
• Clean gutters and roof drains to prevent water backup
• Trim trees and branches hanging near the roof
• Secure outdoor furniture and loose items
• Review your insurance policy and document your property
• Don’t wait until a storm is approaching to address roof issues

A small roofing problem today can quickly become a major leak during heavy winds and rain.

Your roof vents play a major role in protecting your home, but many homeowners never think to check them until there’s a problem. Damaged or blocked vents can lead to moisture buildup, poor attic ventilation, higher energy bills, and even roof leaks.

Here are a few things to look for when inspecting your roof vents:

• Cracked or damaged vent covers
• Rust or corrosion around metal vents
• Loose shingles or flashing around the vent
• Debris, leaves, or nests blocking airflow
• Water stains or moisture in the attic near vents
• Signs of mold, mildew, or excessive heat buildup

Florida heat and storms can take a toll on roof ventilation over time. Proper airflow helps extend the life of your roof and can even help keep your home cooler.

Not comfortable getting on the roof? No problem. Ready Roofing offers complimentary honest roof inspections to help catch small issues before they become major repairs.

Summer Is Almost Here in Florida ☀️

The first official day of summer in 2026 is June 21st, also known as the summer solstice. It’s the longest day of the year and the start of Florida’s hottest, stormiest season.

As temperatures rise and afternoon storms become more frequent across Northeast Florida, now is one of the best times to prepare your home before summer weather really kicks in.

Here are a few smart things homeowners should do before summer arrives:

• Have your roof inspected for loose shingles, cracked flashing, soft spots, or signs of aging
• Clean gutters and roof drains before heavy summer rains begin
• Check attic ventilation to help reduce heat buildup and improve energy efficiency
• Trim back tree limbs hanging near the roof before storm season
• Look for ceiling spots or moisture after spring rains
• Make sure windows, doors, and exterior seals are in good condition

A small issue now can turn into a much bigger and more expensive problem once summer storms and hurricane season arrive.

At Ready Roofing, we provide honest, complimentary inspections and straightforward recommendations to help homeowners stay ahead of problems before the peak summer weather season begins.

In 2021, a fishing boat caught fire and began to sink. Although its eight crew members managed to escape, Thai sailors inspecting the scene found four kittens trapped amid the smoke and flames.

Petty Officer Wichit Pukdeelon, who was 23 at the time, decided to jump into the sea to rescue them. He swam to the burning vessel and brought the animals out one by one, carrying them on his back until they were safe.

Thanks to his quick action, all four cats survived and were later taken to a naval base on Koh Lipe, where they still live today. The rescue turned the young sailor into a hero for thousands of people.
