Not all roof installs are the same.

Something simple and that you may not notice can cause you problems down the road.

Installing the shingles using a method called “roof racking” or weaving a valley with architectural shingles are two of the most common we see. (Pictures for better understanding)

Installing a roof with either of these methods will immediately void the manufacturer’s warranty and leave opportunity for insurance companies not to cover a loss.

HardRock Roofing & Construction LLC is a service provider to the community, not just “another” roofing company.

We don’t have a sales team out knocking doors. We have HAAG certified inspectors there for you when you need them. We don’t charge for our inspections because that’s part of the service we provide.

We want to keep the community informed and educated on their current roof status and how to maintain and get the most out of the life of their roof.

We don’t push insurance claims on homeowners we work with homeowners and the insurance companies when it’s time to go down that path.

Not every issue is an insurance claim. Sometimes there could be manufacturers defects in the roofing material itself(the manufactures will pay for), previous improper installation, or damage caused by a bird or small rodent.

Lowers shingle temperatures: Stops hot air from "baking" asphalt shingles from the inside out.

Stops blistering: Prevents bubbling and premature curling or cracking of shingles caused by trapped thermal expansion. (This is why some roofs lose the granules so much faster than others.)

Common Signs of Bad Installation

Nail placement errors: Driving nails too low or outside the reinforced strip causes leaks and reduces wind resistance. Contradictory, not driving the nails in far enough will cause nailpops.

Incorrect pitch matching: Installing standard shingles on low-slope or flat areas violates building codes and manufacturer guidelines.

Flashing mistakes: Badly installed drip edges or valleys let water run behind materials and rot the wood underneath.

HardRock Fact of the Day:

There should be a gap between the bottom of the siding and the shingles on the roof to allow water and other debris to properly drain and not pool up against your siding material.

Depending on what type of siding material you are working with depends on how big of a gap is required.

If not properly installed, water will slowly cause damage to your siding over time.
