Water conservation is everyone’s responsibility by simply following the tips listed below on water conservation (provided by BeWaterWise.com) we can all begin today and collectively we can make a difference!

• Check your sprinkler system for leaks, over-spray and broken heads (saves 500 gallons per month).
• Install a smart sprinkler controller (saves 40 gallons per day).
• Water your yard before 8 am to reduce evaporation and interference from wind (saves 25 gallons per day).
• Use a broom instead of a hose to clean driveways and sidewalks (saves 150 gallons each time).
• Wash only full loads of laundry (saves 15-50 gallons per load)
• Fix leaky faucets (saves 20 gallons per day).
• Shorten showers by one or two minutes (saves 5 gallons per day).
• Turn off the water while brushing your teeth (saves 3 gallons per day).

What can your community do to help promote and encourage water conservation now, before this precious natural resource eventually dissipates?
• Become a partner in the Water Smart Program
• Provide funding/assistance with water smart education
• Offer a water conservation rebate, such as the City of Allen, Texas H2Ome Improvement SMART Irrigation Technology Rebate Program.
