Shivers Custom Woodwork

These shelves and cabinets began as carefully crafted in the shop—then came the finishing touches, installation, and the transformation into a beautiful built-in entertainment wall.

Finished in Sherwin-Williams SW 7069 Iron Ore, this deep charcoal tone gives the space a sophisticated, timeless feel while making the fireplace and TV the natural focal point.

From shop-built cabinetry → finishing → installation → final reveal, every detail was designed with both function and style in mind.

This is what custom craftsmanship looks like. 🖤

That awkward corner in your home? It might be the space you’re missing most.

That empty wall in the dining room.
That strange corner beside the fireplace.
That space underneath the stairs.

We used to look at those spaces and think, “What are we even supposed to do with this?”

Now? We’d ask:

“What could we build here?”

Custom cabinetry can turn those overlooked areas into something that actually works for your home — a built-in bookshelf, a home office, an entertainment center, a pantry, a bar, or simply beautiful storage that finally gives everything a place.

And that's what we love about custom woodwork.
It isn't about adding more stuff to your home.
It's about making better use of the space you already have.

MYTH vs. FACT: Prefab Cabinets Save You More Money

💭 Myth: Prefab cabinets are always the most cost-effective option.

✅ Fact: While prefab cabinets often have a lower upfront cost, custom cabinets can deliver greater long-term value. Designed specifically for your space, custom cabinetry minimizes wasted space, offers superior craftsmanship, and can increase your home's overall value.

When comparing your options, it's important to consider more than just the price tag.

The smoothest finishes start with the work nobody notices.
Before the stain goes on.
Before the paint goes on.
Before the cabinet becomes part of your home…

We sand.

And we don't rush it.

Sanding is one of those behind-the-scenes steps that may not get all the attention—but it makes a difference in the final result.

It's about creating a surface that's properly prepared for the finish and making sure the details are ready before the next step.

At Shivers Custom Woodwork, our cabinets are built, sanded, and finished in-house using real hardwood and professional-grade materials.

That's the Shivers way.

If you're investing thousands into cabinetry, don't be afraid to ask: “Can I see a sample?

A cabinet maker who uses premium materials should be comfortable showing you what goes into the project.
Homeowners should consider asking to see:

🪵 Wood samples
🎨 Finish samples
🖌️ Paint options
📸 Previous work
And when possible, visiting the cabinet maker's facility or showroom can provide even more insight.

Why?
Because photos can't always communicate:
• Wood grain
• Finish quality
• Color accuracy
• Texture
• Overall craftsmanship

At Shivers Custom Woodwork, clients are shown material samples and the creative process during the design consultation so they can better understand how their project comes together before construction.
That's what transparency looks like.

Your cabinets are an investment in your home.

One coat can completely change the way a piece of wood looks.
Raw wood has character.

You can see the grain.
You can see the natural variations.
You can see the story in every piece.
Staining isn't just about adding color.

It's about bringing out the beauty that's already there.

At Shivers Custom Woodwork, clients select their paint and/or stain as part of the project details, with guidance available during the design process.

And because every project is custom, the finish is part of what makes the final piece feel like yours.
Raw wood → stain → craftsmanship → masterpiece.

That's the transformation.
What would you choose for your dream cabinets: natural wood, light stain, or a deep rich stain? 👇
