Gardening With George Join me and my dogs, including George, as we garden in our suburban Tampa yard. My goal is to grow 1500lbs of food on my 1/3 acre lot in one year.

I needed a taste tester and I knew my friend, Bill, would be up for the challenge!

William Layton Sowell

1lb sorrel/roselle

Juice of one orange fresh orange or 1 cup orange juice

1/4 cup sugar ( you can add up to 1/2 cup to make less tart)

Zest of half an orange

Remove seed pods from sorrel/roselle. Set aside to dry out seeds for next year.

Chop sorrel/roselle into smaller pieces.

Add orange juice, zest and sugar.

Cook down over medium heat about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Jar and enjoy!

Keep refrigerated or freeze!
