That wall isn't decoration. It's doing the heavy lifting.

Far side retaining wall holds the berm, Crape Myrtles, black fence — whole yard. Without it, everything erodes.

Your family needs that too. Boundaries that hold beauty. Phones down. Words kind. Sundays guarded.

What boundary does your home need right now?

Fall starts in the garden before it feels like fall outside.

I am putting seed into a bed that has been covered, fed, and watered through the heat. Down here, I do not wait for sweater weather to start thinking about collards, kale, mustard, and turnips.

Good fall food starts with a little patience in warm soil.

What are y’all sowing first for fall, and what crop always earns a spot in your garden?

Clean hands don't grow tomatoes.

Granddaddy told me: if your nails are clean every day, you ain't growing nothing.

15 minutes, no gloves, hands in dirt. That's worship. That's fatherhood. Show your kids work has dignity.

When's the last time you had dirt under your nails?

Cover isn't hiding. It's hospitality.

When we covered this patio, we started LIVING outside. Morning coffee, evening bench talk, kids doing homework in a breeze.

If your pool is pretty but no one lingers, you need cover, airflow, and seating that says 'stay'.

What would make your patio a living room outside?

The heat is loud on top. The soil tells the real story underneath.

I pulled this straw back to check before I watered. The surface looks dry, but under the mulch the soil is still cooler and holding moisture better than a bare bed ever would.

That is why I keep saying: do not leave soil naked in August.

What are you using for mulch right now—straw, leaves, wood chips, grass clippings, or something else?

I was giving my best hours to everyone except my family.

Clients got my morning. Inbox got my afternoon. My boys got tired dad.

Faith & Family means table first. Calendar second. 20 minutes, no phones, one question: Where did you see God today?

What does table first look like for you this week?

Pulling the trigger on this project today. What are you working on this weekend?

My basil is bolting, and I am not mad at it.

It did what basil does in August down here: it saw the heat and decided to make seed. I can keep trimming for leaves, but I am also watching these heads for the next season.

A plant changing jobs is not always a plant failing.

Do you cut basil back hard to keep leaves coming, or do you let a few plants go to seed?
