A/C Maintenance Reminder! A Little Maintenance Today Can Prevent a Big Repair Tomorrow! 🌞

These photos were taken during a recent duplex inspection in Pewaukee, and they’re a great reminder that your air conditioning system needs regular cleaning and servicing to perform its best.

Here are the Top 5 Reasons to have your A/C system cleaned and serviced each year:

✅ Lower Energy Bills – Dirty coils and restricted airflow force your system to work harder, increasing utility costs.

✅ Reduce the Risk of Breakdowns – Many costly summer service calls could be prevented with routine maintenance.

✅ Extend Equipment Life – A well-maintained system typically lasts longer and experiences less wear and tear.

✅ Improve Cooling Performance – Proper airflow and clean components help your home cool more efficiently and evenly.

✅ Catch Small Problems Early – A routine service visit can identify issues before they turn into expensive repairs or system failures.

The outdoor condenser unit needs adequate airflow to reject heat. Dirt, debris, vegetation, and buildup around the unit can reduce efficiency and place additional strain on the equipment.

Spending a little on maintenance today can often save hundreds—or even thousands—of dollars in repairs and premature replacement costs down the road.

Have you had your A/C serviced yet this season? Ready for a property inspection? We're here to help. Schedule online at aroundtheblockinspections.com.

Crawlspaces matter more than most people realize!

Here’s a real crawlspace from a recent home inspection in Mukwonago, WI 👀 Exposed soil, damaged/missing v***r barrier areas, debris, and moisture concerns can all contribute to musty odors, elevated humidity, insulation damage, and conditions that may support mold growth over time. 🏠

A properly installed v***r barrier can help improve moisture control and protect the home’s structure and air quality. Crawlspaces are often out of sight, but they should never be out of mind. Schedule your property inspection today at aroundtheblockinspections.com.

Spring Reminder for Homeowners! 🌷🏡

As the weather warms up, don’t forget to check your exterior hose faucets/spigots for leaks or freeze damage. Problems from winter freezing temperatures may not show up right away and sometimes only appear after the faucet has been running for a while.

We often find:
✔️ Dripping or leaking exterior faucets
✔️ Freeze damage from hoses left connected during winter
✔️ Older shut-off valves that no longer fully seal or drain properly

A small leak can sometimes turn into a much bigger issue if left unnoticed.

✅ Tip: Disconnect garden hoses before winter and shut off/drain exterior faucets when possible, depending on your plumbing setup. Protecting your home starts with routine maintenance and catching small problems early! 🔍🏠 Schedule your property inspection online at aroundtheblockinspections.com.

What’s Causing Rust and Corrosion in Furnaces? We see this all the time on inspections!

At Around the Block Inspections, we see this quite often. Take a look at these: one from a recent buyer's inspection in Pewaukee and the other from a commercial motel inspection in Twin Lakes.

So what’s behind it?👉 Most of the time, it comes down to moisture from a few common sources:
• High efficiency furnace condensation with clogged or leaking drain lines
• Vent piping leaks from the intake or exhaust
• Ongoing AC issues, including leaks from the coil or drain line above the furnace
• Even newer installs with loose hose clamps on condensate tubing

⚠️ Less common but important:
• A defective or compromised heat exchanger can also contribute to abnormal moisture or corrosion conditions

💡 Here’s what many people do not realize:
That condensate is acidic. What starts as a small rust spot can turn into heavy corrosion, damaged components, and a much bigger repair if ignored. We have even seen this on newer systems where something as simple as a clamp not being tightened properly led to ongoing moisture issues.

👉 Bottom line:
If you are seeing rust or corrosion inside a furnace, it should be serviced and evaluated by a qualified HVAC contractor to identify the source and make proper repairs.

Buying, selling, or staying ahead on maintenance, we help catch these issues early 👍 Schedule online today at, aroundtheblockinspections.com.
