Looks like the Joro spiders have moved in next to the orb weavers, and the backyard is getting BUSY!

Webs are being built high in the sky, and pests are getting wrapped up.

Nature is doing what nature does.

Are you seeing more Joro spiders in your backyard this year?

HARVEST DAY!

The tendril finally turned brown and curly, so I decided it was time to pick my biggest watermelon.

After watching these vines grow for months, there was only one thing left to do… cut it open and see what I got.

Would you have harvested it at this point?

Mesclun update! These seedlings have definitely slowed down compared to my kale and Swiss chard. I still have a few seedlings coming up, but there are some pretty empty spots in the grow bag.

I’m leaning toward sowing more seeds and seeing if I can get a better stand.

Would you reseed or give these more time?

The tomato plant has officially reached the end of its run.

Instead of letting this grow bag sit empty, I’m giving it a refresh and getting it ready for another fall planting.

One crop ends… another one begins.

Mystery solved!

I finally found out what’s been putting all these holes in my kale and Swiss chard… CATERPILLARS.

Now the question is… how do I get rid of them without destroying my fall garden?

It took 4 months to grow one cantaloupe… but when I cut it open and saw this, I knew it was worth it.

Definitely one of my favorite harvests from the garden this year.

One of my last bell peppers of the season is finally turning orange!

The summer garden is slowly winding down, but the fall garden is just getting started.

My kale seedlings are getting destroyed! Something is definitely enjoying these young leaves, but I’m not giving up on them yet.

Time to figure out what’s eating my fall garden.

And just like that, tomato season is over. This little plant gave us a pretty good run, and that final tomato was the perfect way to close it out.

Now it’s time to make room for the fall garden.
