β° Spring Forward Reminder from the Hampstead Volunteer Fire Company π
As we Spring Ahead to Daylight Saving Time, the members of the Hampstead Volunteer Fire Company remind everyone to:
βChange Your Clock, Change Your Batteries.β
When you adjust your clocks this weekend, take a few minutes to replace the batteries in all smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms in your home. This simple step can save lives.
π₯ Did You Know?
According to the National Fire Protection Association:
β’ Roughly 3 out of 5 home fire deaths occur in homes with no smoke alarms or no working smoke alarms.
β’ 38% of home fire deaths happen in fires where no smoke alarms are present.
β’ The risk of dying in a home fire is cut in half when homes have working smoke alarms.
π Smoke Alarm Safety Tips
β’ Install smoke alarms in every sleeping room and outside each sleeping area
β’ Install alarms on every level of the home, including the basement
β’ Use interconnected smoke alarms so when one sounds, they all sound
β’ Test smoke alarms monthly by pressing the test button
β’ Remember: a closed door may slow the spread of smoke, heat, and fire
Working smoke alarms are a critical part of your home fire escape plan.
Take a few minutes this weekend to protect your family.
