We want to make sure we include the ladies of the OES in this class, as it is our responsibility to help keep you ladies safe.

Livingston Lodge No. 160 Free and Accepted Masons

In February of 1858, eleven local Freemasons petitioned the Grand Lodge of Louisiana to form a Masonic Lodge in the town of Springfield. Shortly after the formation of the Lodge, the members moved its location to Ponchatoula, where they met for approximately 30 years. A year after receiving a dispensation to form a Lodge, the Grand Lodge issued a Charter thus officially consecrating our Lodge, on February 16, 1859. In the summer of 1889, the members again set their sight on a new city, Hammond. In 1904, our Lodge began building its own Temple, where we proudly meet today. An interesting side note, Bro. Baltzell, who was on the Building Committee, built and owned the neighboring building across the street.

As you drive through the streets of Hammond, you’ll notice many names which coincide with members and past masters of our Lodge. Our members have been merchants, lawyers, farmers, judges, truck drivers, and Southeastern Louisiana University professors. These members have always had the same purpose though, to improve the moral character of man, through the tenets of Freemasonry: Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth.
