Bushby's Native Garden/Habitat I live in NW Indiana and I'm a member of the Indiana Native Plant Society, Wild Ones Natural Landscapes, and I'm an Indiana Master Naturalist.

I wanted to create a page to pass on what I learn, and share photos of the progress in my garden. My garden is a work in progress. Not all of my plants are native, but my goal is to have mainly native plants. I also am working on having a pesticide free yard for pollinators and wildlife. I have been certified as a wildlife habitat. I have also been certified as a native plant garden by the Indiana Native Plant Society and the Shirley Heinz Land Trust. I am a member of the Indiana Native Plant Society and my local Wild Ones Chapter (Gibson Woods Chapter 38). Both help promote and educate about the importance of native plants.

Rescheduled! We were gutted to have to cancel our talk due to storms and are now happy to announce the new date is Sept 5th.

We’re chatting all things native plants and the difference you can make in just your own yard! This is a free, non-ticketed event meant to be informal and educational.

As my personal friends know, I’m having some health issues. Which seems like it’s going to greatly any seed harvesting myself this year. That being said, if anyone would like to come and harvest seeds, you’re more than welcome to. And if you feel like pulling some unwanted plants while you’re here, feel free! 😂

*Grey-headed coneflower
*Whorled milkweed
*Butterfly milkweed
*Black-eyed Susan’s
*Kalm’s St. John’s wort
*Cup Plant
*Blue false indigo
*Cream indigo
*New England aster (I have both native and a cultivar)
*Queen of the prairie
*Blue Flag Iris
*Golden Alexander
*Anise hyssop
*purple poppy mallow
*rough blazing star
*spotted bee balm
*jacob’s ladder
*columbine
*prairie smoke (one of my favorites!)
*creeping phlox
*harebell
* Meadow Anemone
*nodding onion
*3 different serviceberry trees
*eastern redbud tree
Not all are ready to harvest now, this is just a list of what I have.

Butterflies and native bees aren’t the only pollinators that need native plants! Here is a great black wasp and a great golden digger wasp enjoying my whorled milkweed! Both are docile ground wasps. 🥰
