With the incoming freezing weather approaching here are some helpful hints from a master plumber.
1:Remove your hoses from the outdoor faucets and cover faucets.
2: If your sinks are on an outside wall open the cabinet doors and leave them open.
3: you can drip sinks faucets that are on the outside walls. Keep in mind you need to drip both the hot and cold side of the faucet. If they are on an interior wall really no need to drip.
4: If you have a tankless water heater located on an exterior wall run the hot water every few hours to help it from freezing up.
5: know where and how to turn off your water.

With the incoming freezing weather coming in here is a few tips to help your pipes from freezing.

#1 Know where your main water shut-off is and make sure it's in working order.
#2 Remove the garden hose and wrap up the outdoor faucets (you can wrap a shirt or sock around it)
#3 If you have a sink on an exterior wall leave the cabinet doors open.
#4 Let your faucets drip, they actually need to run the size of a pencil.
#5 If your home is on a crawlspace close the foundation vents.

So if your pipes freeze what to do, don't panic quite yet!

When water freezes it expands. Depending on the type of water distribution system you have will determine if the pipes will burst or remain intact. When the temps rise the water could just start flowing again like nothing happened, no need to call us. If you are not so lucky you will know it as soon as it warms up and the pipes thaw out and start to leak.
I would tell everyone if your pipes freeze I would turn the faucets on and shut off the water on the main. That way if it does burst it will not cause Major damages.
