I like to think sideways and the knitting pattern for this tree is a prime example of that. It's knitted flat on single point needles and sewn up the back. I was pleasantly surprised to find this is my most popular knitting pattern on Knit Picks. I think there must be a lot of sideways thinking knitters out there.
