You know what never makes the final project photos?

The hundreds of decisions that happened along the way.

Where does this go?

Will that work?

When does this need to happen?

Who needs to be here first?

And occasionally… “Well, that wasn’t in the plans.” 😄

Commercial construction is full of decisions, some big, some small, and plenty that have to be made quickly to keep everything moving.

Most of that work happens quietly behind the scenes. And that's exactly how it should be.

By the time our clients walk into the finished space, we want them thinking about their business and what comes next, not everything it took to get there.

We’ll worry about the construction. You enjoy the finished product.

There’s a lot of “while we’re here…” in commercial construction. 😄

You start talking about one part of a project, and pretty soon someone says:

“While we’re here, should we take care of this too?”

Sometimes it makes perfect sense. Sometimes it belongs on the future wish list. And sometimes one small change affects five other things nobody thought about when the conversation started.

That’s where experience comes in.

A big part of our job at CAMM Construction is helping clients sort through those decisions—what makes sense now, what can wait, and how each choice fits into the bigger picture.

Because a good contractor shouldn’t just say, “Sure, we can do that.”

Sometimes the better answer is, “Here’s what happens if we do.”
We like helping our clients make the right call.

Commercial construction has a funny way of keeping you humble.

You can plan. You can schedule. You can coordinate every detail.

And then a delivery changes, the weather decides not to cooperate, or something behind a wall looks nothing like anyone expected. 😅

That’s construction.

The goal isn’t to pretend surprises never happen. It’s having a team that knows what to do when they do.

Solve the problem. Communicate. Adjust the plan. Keep things moving.

A lot happens between “We have an idea” and “We’re open for business,” and honestly, figuring out how to get from one to the other is a big part of why we enjoy what we do.

Here’s to the plans that go perfectly—and the Plan B’s that get the job done.

🎉 Congratulations to Play Street Museum on their grand opening yesterday!

We were honored to be part of bringing this space to life. Knowing that the finished project will now be filled with kids learning, exploring, making new friends, using their imaginations, and, most importantly, having plenty of fun makes this one especially rewarding.

It’s always exciting to finish a commercial project and see the doors open, but there’s something pretty special about knowing what will happen inside those doors for years to come.

Congratulations to the entire Play Street Museum team! We’re grateful you trusted CAMM Construction with your space and wish you many years of success. 👏

There are two kinds of people who walk into a commercial space…

The person who sees a building.

And the construction person who immediately notices the ceiling, flooring, doors, lighting, finishes, layout… and at least three things they would have done differently. 😂

We can’t help it. Once you work in commercial construction, you see buildings a little differently.

At CAMM Construction, those details matter because they all add up to a space that looks good, functions the way it should, and holds up to everyday business.

So yes, we may be quietly inspecting the building while everyone else is enjoying dinner.

It comes with the territory. 👷‍♂️

It’s always fun to look back at some of the projects we’ve worked on over the years.

Some were built from the ground up. Others involved taking an existing space and giving it a completely new purpose. Every project came with its own challenges, decisions, and plenty of work behind the scenes.

And honestly, that’s what we enjoy about commercial construction. No two projects are exactly the same.

We’re grateful for the businesses that have trusted CAMM Construction with their spaces, and we’re looking forward to the projects still ahead.

CAMM Construction is growing, and we’re looking for an experienced Commercial Construction Superintendent to lead day-to-day field operations on commercial projects throughout the Kansas City area.

We’re looking for someone who takes ownership of the jobsite—someone who can lead subcontractors, manage schedules, communicate clearly, identify problems early, and keep projects moving while maintaining high standards for safety and quality.

What you’ll do:

🔸 Lead daily jobsite operations
🔸 Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, inspections and deliveries
🔸 Manage short-term schedules and project milestones
🔸 Review plans, specifications and project requirements
🔸 Identify field issues and develop practical solutions
🔸 Maintain quality-control and jobsite safety standards
🔸 Track daily progress and communicate with the project team
🔸 Maintain an organized, professional and client-ready jobsite
🔸 Coordinate punch lists, closeout and project turnover

What we’re looking for:

✔️ 5+ years of commercial construction experience
✔️ 3+ years leading commercial projects as a superintendent or assistant superintendent
✔️ Experience with ground-up construction, renovations and tenant improvements
✔️ Strong understanding of plans, specifications, scheduling and construction sequencing
✔️ Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills
✔️ Working knowledge of OSHA requirements and jobsite safety
✔️ Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record

Experience taking projects from mobilization through closeout, OSHA 30 certification, Procore experience, Kansas City-area trade relationships, and experience in medical, office, retail, automotive or industrial construction are all a plus.
