🌳 YOUR TREES ARE THIRSTY TOO! 💦
With this hot, dry weather, don’t forget about the trees in your yard. A little extra water now can make a BIG difference.
According to Texas A&M Forest Service, here are a few simple tips during drought conditions:
💧 Mature trees: Deep watering about every 2–3 weeks may be needed during extreme drought.
🌱 Young or newly planted trees: They may need water 2–3 times a week.
🪛 Try the screwdriver test: Push a screwdriver into the soil beneath the tree. If it won’t easily go 6–8 inches deep, it’s probably time to water.
☀️ Skip the hottest part of the day: Water early in the morning or later in the evening when possible so less water is lost to evaporation.
🚿 Water slowly and deeply: A garden hose or soaker hose works great. You want the water getting down to the roots, not just wetting the surface.
And maybe hold off on heavy fertilizing or unnecessary pruning during severe drought. Your trees are already working overtime!
And if you decide not to water your trees and they die…
Well, we know a guy. 😎🌳🪚
