Feature Project - Riva Chase Park - Part 2

One of the main goals of the project was expand the usable area of the open spaces. With a little creative boulder work, a ton of grading, and some new steps, we were able to increase the footprint of playable surface dramatically. The new pathways and ramp also provide access to the basketball court below.

Next up: New, efficient irrigation, soil amendment, plantings, and sod for the playing field.

Feature Project - Riva Chase Park - Part 1, Play Area

We feel honored and grateful that our neighbors at Riva Chase entrusted us to turn their old park into a vibrant gathering place for the community.

Over the past two years, we designed and executed a new master plan, including a new play area (playground equipment installed by the fine folks at Recreation Plus), new granite chip walkways and colored concrete pathways and steps, seating nooks, updated and efficient irrigation, and an expanded playing field.

Join us as we relive this truly rewarding experience. Part 1 includes demo of the old playground, retrofitting the existing irrigation, extensive grading, expansion of the play area to accommodate the new play structures, and new plantings.

Up next we tackle the pathways and new playing field.

Design credit for the park goes to our friend and an amazing designer, Matt Neiderhauser of 🅜🅞🅝🅣🅐🅝🅔 🅓🅔🅢🅘🅖🅝.

Safety is not something we talk about; it is what we are about. Safety day is not about checking boxes or filling out training rosters; it is about taking a critical look at our own practices and looking our failures in the eye. The day is rooted in teaching moments inspired by our own experiences and recent incidents and accidents, led by the people in the field doing the work everyday.

To be safe and to ensure the health and well being of our team, we need to be willing to examine where we have failed ourselves and each other and figure out how we can be better. The day was filled with candid and frank discussion and input from nearly every employee.

Mackinzie said it best when he told us “your best protective equipment is your mind.” Simple and profound words.
