Southwest Florida friends (Fort Myers, Naples, Cape Coral, Lehigh Acres, and beyond), heads up—this weekend’s arctic blast is delivering the coldest weather we’ve seen in over a decade (some areas not this chilly since 2010)! 🌬️❄️
An extreme cold snap is pushing through, with lows plunging into the low to mid-30s (and possibly dipping below freezing inland like around Lehigh and Alva). Wind chills could feel like the mid-20s or even lower east of I-75, with gusty winds making it feel far from our usual Florida vibe. Freeze watches/warnings are in play, and this prolonged chill isn’t something our homes are designed for.
Exposed pipes—outdoor faucets, garage/attic lines, or uninsulated spots—can freeze solid and burst when temps hover at or below 32°F for hours, causing serious water damage and flooding.
Quick tips to protect your home:
• Drip faucets slowly (keep a thin stream going) overnight.
• Open cabinet doors under sinks to let warm air flow.
• Insulate/wrap exposed pipes if you can.
• Set your thermostat no lower than 55-60°F.
If pipes freeze, burst, or you’re dealing with water damage from this rare cold front—act fast! Call AOC Construction Group immediately for expert drying, repair, and restoration. We’re ready to help Southwest Florida get back to normal quickly.
