Thank you Bass Farms LLC for all of our favorite fall goodies! We are supporting the community big and small with your pumpkins this holiday season and I hope that everyone gets a chance to come out and find something delicious for the whole family in your little market! Maybe you can spot the Red Warty Thang pumpkin or the one we called Squidbillie! 🎃✨🍁

Miss Nova Parker and Mr Curry Parker had a HUGE shopping expedition trying to find all of the goodies and treats for their neighborhood four-legged friends and the humans for all of the exciting activities and events we will be attending this weekend 🐾 bring your kids of all kinds to these fun local events. Hope to see you there.

This is what scared the misses the other night!

It is definitely a changing of the seasons. The leaves are falling, the birds are migrating south. Another species starting their migration, but not quite as far, is the salamander. We spotted some tiger salamanders recently crossing the road near Linn County Conservation’s Palo Marsh and Linn Learning Farm near a wetland.

This amphibian spends most of its life underground in burrows and is rarely seen until, in the fall, they can suddenly seem to be everywhere, moving slowly across the landscape. They’re likely converging on wetlands where they will overwinter and then, in the spring, mate and lay egg masses before dispersing again into the landscape and going underground. Don’t be surprised if you see some other amphibians, such as frogs crossing the road during some of these wet fall days.
