Quick update on the remodel. Foundation work is complete! Getting forms around the old stonework was a challenge.
Working on saving portions of the original siding.
Detailing on flashings for exterior metal wainscoting.
Also got the numerous layers of shingles and shake removed. On the east face of the original roof we have original 2x4 rafters, 3/4” purlins, a flat 2x4 running on top of the rafters, sheathing, v***r barrier. Next will be a continuous layer of rigid foam sheets, 3/4” 1x4 purlins, foil backed bubble insulation, and metal roofing. It’s a bit of a crazy system but it will be well insulated and has continuous venting below the sheathing. This also allow us to keep the existing 1x8 wall planks on the interior of the second story as our finished wall.
Happy Independence Day!
