🍂🏔️ A LITTLE SLICE OF MOUNTAIN HEAVEN 🏔️🍂

There's just something about a rainy, cold evening in the mountains of North Carolina that makes a man appreciate the simple things in life.

The rain is falling, the mountain air is getting chilly, college football is playing on the big screen, and there's a cold Coors within arm's reach.

And the pipe? Well, she's loaded with good old-fashioned Prince Albert.

Speaking of Prince Albert... you've gotta love North Carolina! Walked into the local grocery store and there it was. A whole tub of Prince Albert sitting on the shelf like it was 1965. Naturally, I couldn't leave without it! 😂

No fancy plans. No big-city noise. Just an old pipe, some honest to***co, a little football, and the sound of rain falling through the Carolina woods.

Some folks spend a lifetime chasing the finer things. Sometimes the finer things are the simplest things.

Life is good, my friends. Mighty good.

🌽🚗 THE ADVENTURES OF THE TRAVELING COB — DAY 2 🏔️

Well, folks, we've officially wrapped up Day 2 of our journey from Florida to the mountains of North Carolina.

And let me tell you something... this old Cob has OPINIONS! 🤣

A few things we've learned along the way:

🌽 He absolutely LOVES the backroads of rural Georgia. Small towns, country roads, and a slower pace of life. That's his kind of country!

🚗 Traffic jams? NOT A FAN! Apparently, this Cob has places to be and no patience for foolishness.

🏔️ Crossing into North Carolina put a little pep back in his step. Mountain air will do that to a fellow!

🛏️ After two long days, countless miles, and more than a few adventures, the Traveling Cob has officially called it a night. He's tucked in, resting comfortably, and dreaming of tomorrow's adventures.

Some folks collect souvenirs when they travel.

We collect stories. And apparently, this Cob is determined to become one! 😂

Stay tuned, folks. Something tells me the Traveling Cob is just getting warmed up!

Meet the cousins. 🇮🇹🤝🇮🇪

There’s actually a reason I bought this Savinelli.

When I first saw it, something about the pipe looked damn familiar. I couldn’t put my finger on it, but I liked it enough that I probably paid more than I should have. 😂

Then it finally dawned on me…

Sitting in my collection was its Irish cousin — my Peterson 309.

Put them side by side and the family resemblance really starts to show. Big muscular bowls, sweeping bent stems, bright metal collars and two classic shapes with plenty of personality.

One Italian. 🇮🇹
One Irish. 🇮🇪
Definitely not twins… but I’m calling them cousins. 😁

And now that the Savinelli restoration is finished, they can finally hang out together properly.

So you’ve got time for ONE bowl tonight. Which cousin are you reaching for?

Happy Cob Tuesday! 🌽🔥

Only seems fitting that John Wayne himself handles the lighting duties today.

A good cob, a fresh pile of to***co, The Duke standing by with the flame, and a few well-used pipe tools on the bench. That’s about as fine a way to spend a Tuesday as I can think of.

Nothing fancy. Just good to***co, an honest cob, and a little old-school attitude.

My first Savinelli restoration is officially in the books. 🇮🇹🔥

I’ve been saving this one for last. There’s just something about working on your first Savinelli that makes you want to slow down, take your time, and get it right.

The goal wasn’t to make an old pipe look new. It was to clean away the years, bring that beautiful briar back to life, and preserve the character it earned along the way.

And man… once that grain started coming through, I knew we had something special.

Clean rim. Beautiful briar. Polished stem and Savinelli collar. Nothing overdone.

Let the briar speak.

I think this old Italian cleaned up pretty damn well. 😁

Sasieni Mayfair — another piece of briar brought back to life. 🔥

This old Mayfair came to the SG-I bench showing every bit of its age. A dark, tired finish, years of buildup around the rim, and plenty of little scars from a life well lived.

But underneath all of that was some beautiful briar.

The cleanup revealed gorgeous birdseye and some fantastic grain wrapping around the bowl and heel. Rather than trying to make an old pipe look brand new, the goal was simple: clean it up, preserve its character, and give that grain a chance to shine again.

Those little marks and imperfections? They earned their place.

Preserve the history. Let the briar speak.
