Step away from the sponge.
MYTH: You can easily wipe away soot and smoke stains from a small kitchen fire with normal household cleaner.
FACT: Soot particles are highly acidic and oily. If you try to wipe them down with standard spray and sponge, you will actually smear the soot deeper into the pores of your drywall, permanently staining the wall and trapping that burnt odor.
Fire damage requires specialized chemical sponges and cleaning agents to lift the soot without ruining the surface. If you've had a kitchen mishap, let our fire restoration team handle the clean up properly!
