When Minnesota temps soar into the 90s and beyond, we get a lot of calls from homeowners thinking their A/C is not working right. Don't panic - generally, your A/C is designed to keep your house about 20 degrees cooler than outside. So if your thermostat is set to 72 but it's 74 inside and 100 degrees out, your system may be doing everything it can on these rare extreme heat days.
However, a few things you can do to help it out:
• Change your filter
• Keep blinds closed where the sun hits
• Skip the laundry during the hottest part of the day
• Skip the stove. Grill outside or support a local restaurant
• Rinse off the fins on the outside unit with a spray nozzle on your garden hose to clear out dust and debris.
