This one came to us as a 'my pump is just loud' call. The bearings were going, and the motor was about a week from seizing up. Caught it in time, swapped the motor, and the homeowner didn't lose a single day of swimming. If your pump has started humming, screeching, or making any noise it didn't make last month, that noise is the cheap version of the problem. Waiting is the expensive version. Water's still warm but the light is changing. This time of year in DFW your pool starts needing a little less chlorine than it did in July, but don't back off too fast. One more stretch of 95 degree days and a low pool goes green in a weekend. Keep testing twice a week through September.
