A furnace upgrade we did for a customer this weekend. Changed out an 80,000 btu/hr 80% single stage furnace for a 97% 70K variable speed. Not only do they gain a minimum of 17% in efficiency, they gain the benefit of a 2 stage furnace ! In temperament weather you don't need the full capacity of your furnace and there is massive energy waste in the start up of each heating cycle. Installing a 2 stage or modulating furnace allows you to minimize wasteful short cycling maximizing efficiency.

Really fun project we did. 10 bedroom barndiminium. We did this with inverter drive heat pumps coupled with constant torque drive air handlers. The living space was spray formed which makes for a very tight building envelope. We installed an ERV to ventilate the building and and programmed the EcoBee Premium stats to cycle it for 20 minutes every hour. For additional humidity control we installed an Aprilaire 130 pint whole house humidifier.

Really fun building to work on...I should have taken a few more finished product pictures. Heading back in March so I will get some more

You know your getting old when you're changing out a system you installed 22 years ago !!

The new system is an Armstrong 96% condensing furnace with an Armstrong Heat pump. Both units qualify for the 25C Federal tax credit of $2600 plus utility rebates. We saved the Aprilaire humidifier I installed back in the day and put in a Honeywell 20x20x4 F100 high efficiency filter. It's. Controlled by a Honeywell T10 thermostat with a remote sensor. This allows them to condition to their upstairs when sleeping and down stairs during the day.

Dual fuel applications off the best of both worlds and maximize efficiency.

Love these Armstrong LE series units for value add of removable louvered panels that allow us to get these units clean ! Clean condensers result in better heat transfer which means higher efficiency and lower electrical costs.

Another satisfied Customer !! We installed a furnace for this customer 3 years ago. Other contractors were trying to force them into changing out their AC but it just wasn't the right time for them financially. 3 years later we did a planned change-up and increased their efficiency from a 10 SEER to a 13 SEER ! Look at that size difference in the unit !! Removable louvered panels to protect the coil and it's easy to clean. Compressor sound blanket for very quiet operation.
