Today, we had the opportunity to volunteer at Apple Seeds for their Harvest and Bag Packing shift! Apple Seeds Teaching Farm is a non-profit organization focused on educating local youth on where our produce comes from and how to prepare it 🫜🥬🌶️🥒 Everything harvested and packed today will go to Don Tyson Elementary and Walker Elementary in Springdale.

Thank you to the incredible team that allowed us to help out today!! 🌱

Today we had the opportunity to lead a tour through the Alice L Walton School of Medicine green roof with ULI - Northwest Arkansas and their Women’s Leadership Initiative Program🌱 As we walked through the roof, Lee called out specific facts related to women in construction, architecture and those specifically involved with this installation.

Thank you to Cori Wilson Crossland Construction Company and Meredith Hendricks with Entegrity for making this tour possible!

Nature has always been the original color expert🌱🌸

Every green roof develops its own palette through the seasons. From subtle sedum blooms to vibrant pollinator gardens, these are the colors bringing our projects to life!

🌱PROJECT HIGHLIGHT🌱

A space designed to bring people together and create a memorable experience from the ground up.

Onyx at The Preserve Coffee Shop on the Walmart Campus blends thoughtful design with functional outdoor elements, creating a unique environment where people can connect with the Ozark landscape.

Building designed by Marlon Blackwell Architects, Landscape designed by SWA, and constructed by Nabholz.

Ozark Green Roofs’ scope brought the exterior vision to life through the installation of sedum mat and planting of elements that enhance the overall design. The rooftop experience was taken a step further with a dedicated bike path, installed by Trailblazers Mountain Bike Group, creating an interactive space unlike any other🚲

A special thank you to our trade partners Rio Blanco Sales, Catalpa Architects, and JonesPlan for helping bring this one to life!🌱

It’s all about the plants!🌱 The Alice L. Walton School of Medicine green roof has now experienced a full year of seasons, and the results speak for themselves.

The carefully curated plant palette, designed by OSD, has matured into a lush, dynamic rooftop landscape featuring a wide variety of species such as liatris, echinacea, grasses, red hot poker, and bee balm. After a year of growth, these species provide vibrant color, texture, and ecological value while creating a resilient and visually striking environment.

Thoughtful plant selection is critical to long term green roof success. As these plant communities continue to establish, they support biodiversity, provide habitat for pollinators, and showcase the lasting environmental benefits of green roof systems.

It’s exciting to see this project continue to flourish and demonstrate what’s possible when plants and architecture work together.

Green roofs are designed to be resilient, but even resilient systems need support during establishment and extreme heat🌱☀️

A properly designed irrigation system helps green roofs:

• Establish deeper, stronger root systems
• Improve plant survival during summer heat
• Reduce stress during drought conditions
• Maintain fuller and healthier plant coverage over time
• Protect the long term performance of the system

One of the biggest misconceptions about green roofs is that they are completely maintenance free. The reality is that strategic irrigation during key periods can make the difference between a roof that survives and a roof that thrives!

Good green roof maintenance is all about using the right tools at the right time.

🌱PROJECT HIGHLIGHT🌱

A space built to perform and designed to be experienced.

The JB Hunt A-B Connector Building amenity roof creates a functional outdoor environment that connects people as much as it connects the two buildings.

Designed by Miller Boskus Lack and constructed by Nabholz.

Ozark Green Roofs’ scope brought the vision to life through a coordinated installation of pavers, custom planter boxes, supporting assemblies, and planting. Special thanks to our trade partners Verdant Landscapes and Stronghold NWA for helping bring this project to life!🌱
