Got tired of guessing so i actually looked up the w**ds we deal with here in NWA. Here's what i found and how i'd answer the questions i get asked the most.

1. Most common w**d in Arkansas beds and lawns? Crabgrass, by far. The Univ of Arkansas ag dept calls it the #1 w**d in the whole state.

2. Why does bermuda keep coming back after i pull it? Because it spreads underground through rhizomes, not just seed. Pulling the top doesn't touch the root, so it just grows back.

3. What's that white flower stuff taking over my mulch? White clover. Heart shaped leaves, little white flowers, spreads fast. Not bad for your soil (it fixes nitrogen) but it'll choke out what you actually planted.

4. Is that a w**d or did i plant that? Biggest stress doing bed work honestly. My rule: if i'm not 100% sure, i stop and ask before touching it. No guessing.

5. Why do w**ds come back every spring even after i cleared them last fall? Because pulling what you see doesn't touch what you don't. Some w**ds drop hundreds of seeds that sit dormant for years before sprouting. Clearing visible w**ds is only round 1.

6. Yellow grassy w**d with a triangle shaped stem? That's nutsedge. Forms tubers underground and keeps sending up new shoots after you pull it. Takes patience, not one pass.

7. Can you just spray my beds? I'd rather hand pull. Spray drift can kill the plants you want to keep, and spraying legally requires a pesticide license i don't carry. Hand pulling is slower but precise.

8. Why do my beds get w**dier than my lawn? Mulch holds moisture and the soil underneath is loose, which is basically a perfect setup for w**ds to germinate. Compacted lawn soil isn't.

9. If i mulch will w**ds stop? Mulch blocks light so it stops new w**ds from sprouting. It won't stop anything already rooted or spreading underground like bermuda or nutsedge. Prevention, not a cure.

10. How often do beds actually need w**ding? Spring and summer, every 3 to 4 weeks. Less than that and new w**ds have time to seed again before you ever touch them.

What I learned when maintaining a garden bed:
1. Water is, of course, necessary for plant growth, and maintaining uniform soil moisture is important, especially for fruiting plants.

2. Weeding is one of the most important aspects of garden maintenance and they often tear thru the fabric and grow past the mulch laid down to fight them.

3. Feeding plants with nutrients can help boost plant growth and health. So whenever I replant anything, I always add fertilizer and clean up the vines to promote deep roots.

Does grass type actually change how you should mow?

1.Yes — and this matters in NWA because we've got both warm and cool season grasses growing here.

2.Bermuda grass — the most common warm season type in Arkansas — stays healthiest between 1 and 2 inches.

3.Tall fescue and other cool season grasses do better at 2.5 to 4 inches.

4.Mowing the wrong type at the wrong height is one of the most common reasons yards look rough even after they've been cut.

Most people don't know what kind of grass they even have. I check before I set the blade height. That's part of doing the job right.

Should I cut my grass tall or short?

1.Taller grass = deeper roots. Deeper roots = less watering, less w**ds, stronger lawn overall.

2.Most NWA yards do best between 2.5 and 4 inches depending on grass type.

3.Cutting too short stresses the grass, invites w**ds, and basically opens the door for every problem you don't want.

4.In summer especially — keep it on the taller side. The grass shades the soil and holds moisture.

Moral of the story: taller isn't lazy. It's actually the smarter cut. If you want it done right the first time, text me.

not throwing shade i get it, nobody wants to commit to stuff. but grass doesnt wait for you to remember to text me

recurring clients dont think about their yard at all. i show up same day every 1 or 2 weeks, handle it, bill you after. rate locked in the whole time youre on schedule

one time clients call me in a panic when its already overgrown and then pay more for it bc overgrown = more work

your yard, your call. just dont act surprised when the "ill call when i need it" plan costs more in the long run

im just saying for $45 that saturday is yours again
