Its been a crazy year you guys, one of the hardest of my life. This year's birthday fundraiser is to just keep stuff going here.
The first couple photos are a reminder of when i started this nursery, an actual dream come true for me. It was just one little row of plants. The rest are a reminder of the past few seasons where this vision has launched into something tangible, almost too big for me to handle given all the unforeseen obstacles Ive encountered. Look how big this space has become, its incredible!
I cant describe all the emergencies that have come with it lately. Once again, i just feel lucky to be alive.
To focus on the highlights: my oldest bonsai are 29 years old this year, and still thriving; ive been giving presentations and co-teaching workshops at the Pacific Bonsai Museum; ive got some great workers this summer; ive been working up on
Mt. Hood as an instructor of 2 of my favorite activities, snowboards and mountain bikes; and my nursery business is getting national appreciation! Theres a lot to be grateful for.

My favorite is blooming again, i love this time of year! This Japanese iris planting must be getting close to 20 years old. The previous pot it was in was made by an old friend, it was gorgeous. It broke in a deep freeze a couple years ago, totally heartbreaking. But this plant is indestructible, it just keeps getting better every year!

We're often out here working till 1 or 2 am just watching the moon go across the sky, its so nice. That particular night we were making with seedlings. Pretty cool.

Working on a Japanese larch seedling, around 6- 7 years old. Little ones like these start out as nice tall ones as shown in the last photo. Over the years they get cut down and made into short shohin specimens 🤩 This one is planted on a rock that i brought home from my friend's backyard in back in Y2K.

Vine maple seedlings 10 pack.
This Oregon native is shade tolerant and has one of the most beautiful displays of orange and yellow fall foliage- see the last photo for an example of a sweet old yamadori specimen in full autumn glory. With 10 seedlings you can grow these out into a little forest and / or clump planting. They respond very well to being grown with the metal washer method to fuse the trunks together.
Get them while they last! Ill be selling these till theyre gone in the next few months.
