Walk outside to your AC condenser (the big box unit). How close is the nearest bush, tree branch, or pile of leaves?

It needs at least 2 feet of clearance on all sides to breathe. Here's why:

→ Restricted airflow = your AC works harder
→ Harder working AC = higher electric bills
→ Debris sucked into the unit = damaged coils and fan blades

Take 30 seconds to trim back anything within 2 feet. Pull weeds. Clear leaves from the sides and top.

Walk to your furnace. If it's been running, look through the little window at the flame.

What color is it?

🔵 Blue = clean, efficient burn. Your furnace is running right.
🟡 Yellow or orange = dirty burn. Could be a dirty burner, poor ventilation, or in worst cases, a cracked heat exchanger (carbon monoxide risk).

A yellow flame doesn't always mean emergency — but it always means your furnace is wasting gas and needs service.

Drop a comment: blue or yellow? If you're not sure, that's the most common answer — and a good reason to get it checked before fall.
