🌞 Why do so many El Paso lawns turn brown in the summer?
It’s usually NOT because your grass is “burning.”
Here’s what’s actually happening:
💧 The combination of 100°+ temperatures, very low humidity, intense sunlight, and dry winds causes your lawn to lose water faster than it can absorb it.
When that happens, the grass goes into survival mode:
• Blades turn brown to reduce water loss.
• Growth slows dramatically.
• Thin or stressed areas become more vulnerable to weeds.
The good news? Brown doesn’t always mean dead.
A healthy lawn with deep roots can often recover when it’s watered properly and cared for consistently.
A few tips:
✅ Water deeply instead of lightly every day.
✅ Water early in the morning to reduce evaporation.
✅ Keep mower blades sharp.
✅ Never remove more than one-third of the grass blade in a single mowing.
