Grateful and a little humbled today. 🙏

New Jersey Voyager just published my story — the whole thing. Losing my dad young, the years I spent chasing approval in all the wrong places, January 16, 2020 when I finally asked for help, and rebuilding LVS Custom Paints in my father's honor.

We don't just paint homes. We build trust, create opportunities for good people, and try to leave every client better than we found them. That's the standard my dad set, and it's the one I hold myself to every single day.

July 12, 1947

Jimmy. He’d have been 79 today.

I used to ride around with him in his work van. That’s most of what I’ve got. Not conversations — just the passenger seat, the buckets rattling in the back, going wherever he was going.

He wasn’t a man of long speeches. He taught through action.

He started LVS. I was fourteen when he died, and I thought that was the end of the name.

Years later I bought my first van. It wasn’t new. It wasn’t flashy. But it had my company’s name on it — and for the first time in my life, my father’s name was rolling down the road again.

There’s a fleet of them now.

Happy birthday, Dad.

For years, I lived this story.

It wasn't until recently that I finally found the courage to write it.

Once I started, it poured straight out of my heart. Five days later, Legacy Over Approval was finished. Those five days were some of the most emotional of my life. I laughed, I cried, and I relived moments I thought I'd buried forever. I read every chapter over and over until it felt true—not perfect, but honest.

This is the story of a little boy who lost his father... a young man who spent years searching for where he belonged... who battled addiction, experienced homelessness, and looked for acceptance in all the wrong places.

It's also the story of surrender, faith, fatherhood, second chances, rebuilding a life from the ground up, and discovering that the greatest freedom comes when you stop living for approval and start living with purpose.
