SNOW SHOWERS POSSIBLE THIS WEEKEND...(Wait, what did I just read?)
And no, I'm not joking! I know I posted on Saturday thinking that the guidance would trend warmer and the GFS was out of the park, but confidence continues to increase in a rather strong blast of cold air coming Friday night into Saturday. This will be some of our coldest air we've seen since the first half of April! It may be cold enough to see some lake-effect snow showers, especially along and north of I-80 on Saturday. Most models currently show at least some snow showers. It will be quite chilly, as current high temperatures for most locations look to be in the 40s and 50s, but a few spots near the NY/PA border may struggle to climb out of the upper 30s with cloud cover and precipitation.
❄️ If this comes to fruition, NO accumulation would be expected, as these would be on the lighter side and the ground is still too warm. This also isn't uncommon, as flakes can fly in the sky here in Pennsylvania if we get a well-timed blast of cold air in mid or late October.
This cold blast is short-lived as we slowly rebound temperatures back to normal Sunday into Monday. Stay tuned for updates!
