This Saturday, Sept 19th Peter Wentz Farmstead is hosting the Pawpaw Trek! Take a walk on their nature trail and learn all about North America's largest edible native fruit! Guided walks are being led at 12:30p, 1:30p, and 2:30p. Also they will be teaching about flax culture by the historic home!

🌿 Let’s talk about Skullcap — Scutellaria lateriflora.

Back in the day, flowers weren’t just pretty… they spoke.

Women used flowers to send messages without saying a word. Love, friendship, grief, protection, strength — every flower had a meaning, a personality and a purpose.

A bouquet could tell a whole damn story. 🌸

That’s something I think about when I garden.

Skullcap is small and unassuming, but traditionally it’s been loved by herbalists as a nervine — a plant associated with calming and supporting the nervous system.

To me, Skullcap says…

Quiet your mind.
Soften your shoulders.
You don’t have to carry everything at once.

Plants are more than something pretty to look at.

They have a story.
They have a purpose.

That’s Gardening With Intention. 🌿

🌱 Grateful Garden Healers Affirmation of the Day:

And here’s our hugelkultur garden in all her wild glory! 🌿🌻

Hugelkultur is basically gardening on top of layers of wood, branches, organic matter and soil. As everything breaks down, it feeds the soil, holds moisture and creates this beautiful little living ecosystem.

We don’t need perfectly manicured gardens over here.

Give me diversity, abundance and LIFE! 🙌🏽

Take up space. Grow wild. Bloom anyway. 🌻
