Meanwhile back at the ranch, the beautiful and talented Isaiah made walnut beadboard for the back of this dining room hutch. He will probably wrap up the build today before moving on to applying the finish.

Everybody likes a before and after right? Or an after and before? This downtown 1907 home was a hot mess. That’s why we were called. Old houses are what we do.

The second picture is after demo. An under framed floor system, a bearing wall that had been completely removed, bad windows and a gable wall that had been completely comprised, all had to be repaired to end up with this barrier free walk in shower. We milled the trim around the tempered window with PVC to match the profiles found in the home. Chesley Campbell and Chesley Campbell II rewired the entire house. Our fantastic plumber found creative ways to get the new plumbing up to code and Joey Adams did his always amazing job with the tile.

Isaiah is killing it as always in the shop. Here, he’s fitting the doors on a custom quartersawn white oak vanity for a project in Hillsborough. Once he dry fits the doors, we will start applying Waterlox Wood Sealers, Stains and Finishes Handmade in the USA by far our favorite finish. Stay tuned for finished pics. Shout out to henrit0burrit0 for making his first doors with Isaiah’s guidance.

It has been a while since we posted on the internets, but here’s an update from our Milton project. Demetrio, William and Henry are retrofitting headers between columns on the second floor wrap around porch. They sent temporary walls to hold the roof in place and are cutting in the new beams. Framing in the fall in North Carolina is the best job perk in the world.

We feel very fortunate to be working with on this beautiful 1907 home in Trinity Park. Long neglected by previous owners, Sheila is bringing this house back its stunning former glory.

This photo is from what will be an attic apartment. The dormer was inadequately supported and had deflected the ceiling joists by 3 1/2” in the center. We rebuilt the floor system and properly secured the dormer. Soon, we will be restoring the stained glass casement window.

Stuff like this warms my cold, dead heart. Demetrio showing how a framing square works to layout rafters. I believe the children are our future, teach them well and let them lead the way.
