So my oldest son and I go fishing almost every Friday. Yesterday was his lucky day because he finally caught his first large mouth and it was a toad! We don't have a scale so not sure how much it weighed but it was heavy and it was 20" long. Talk about a great first LMB. He is now hooked lol
He caught both fish on a $1 spinnerbait from Walmart.

Got a chance to throw my line in Lake Hefner up in Oklahoma City for about 30-45 minutes. Pulled this one in with a Gamechanger 1/2 oz. Trashmaster jig! Building up some confidence in my jig fishing!

First 2 pics were the 1st fish of the day. 2nd 2 pics were of the last fish of the day.
Used swim bait on a EWG hook with 1/4oz. Bullet weight, 2nd one was on a 1/3oz. Crankbait and got a reaction bite on it. That's what I was shooting for, the reaction bite!

Took the wife and oldest son fishing for mother's day. Yes that's right, my wife @fuzslady wanted to go fishing for her mother's day! No you cannot borrow my wife for next mother's day, sorry! LOL
Unfortunately this was the only catch of the day, unless you count trees. If you do then the wife caught 1 at a minimum : )
We had a great day even though we only got 1. How was your mother's day?

My son graduated basic training on July 20th. He is now in AIT(advanced individual training) for 6 weeks.
I am so proud of him, words can't really express how proud I am! He is doing ROTC and this summer he is doing BCT and AIT so he will already have it done before he finishes college. He is planning on getting commissioned as an officer. He is doing things smarter then his dad did that's for sure!

This is my most recent sign I did. I think the dimensions were something like 18" by 20" somewhere in that area. I lamented 3 boards to come up with the shape, I've been wanting to do a sign like this for a while now and finally had my chance. The last picture is of her business card.

Here we go! Just put on these 2 whole chickens. Gonna smoke these till I get to about 165° then I'll pull them off and hopefully will be dinner time.

Here's the big question, with can or without can? I'm going without can this time. Last time I used apple cider beer but since I smoke at such a low temp not much of the beer evaporated.
I'll try and keep this updated, I'm still learning how to use my story lol

This is the beginning of my BBQ chicken. It's gonna sit in the marinade in the fridge for a few hours. That will give me enough time to get the smoker set up for grilling.
The chicken is boneless and mostly skinless so it will cook pretty quick on the grill. I don't mind that cause it just means I get to eat it sooner lol

This is the most recent project I've done for the wife. I couldn't post anything about it because she would know what I was working on.
She's so good at decorating, the stain is called worn navy if anyone was wondering. That's it for now, I've got signs to work on next. Stay tuned.

From left to right is my process of adding a handle to my work. There is something gratifying about putting smooth rounded over handles in a work piece. Call me crazy but I enjoy it.

Today was clean up a corner in the shop. I can tell you this is the cleanest my table saw and corner have been in a very long time.
I really need dust collection, other then the old Hoover that is my current dust collection heck it uses bags. That's how old it is lol

Ok so the wife's noodle board is done and she is super happy with it, which is what I was going for so I nailed it :)

The sides and back boards are red oak, which looks really nice, also a new experience for me since most of what I work with is pine and other common soft woods. I could definitely see how hardwoods are harder on your tools but I'm ok with that :)

I've been running behind, this cutting board is finished and ready for my daughter's kitchen : )

I wish I could get my hands on some purple heart, walnut but I'd settle for anything dark to give the boards some color. I enjoy doing the endgrain cutting boards but man it takes me a lot of sanding if they are even slightly uneven. Still I enjoy them.
Next up, noodle board for our gas top stove.

Well this cutting board is done! I really like the way the handles and rounded over corners turned out. I can't wait to get my hands on some dark wood so patterns pop out more.

These were the Christmas gifts I made for the wife. She loves to lay in bed at night and watch TV, so I made her a cheese board(small one) for her TV time. The large board is an endgrain cutting board. I'm really happy with the way they turned out, what do you all think?

This was my 2nd ornament swap with another IG maker. She (Rae) just got married to Ryan in October so I decided to make a 1 for there 1st Christmas as husband and wife. I wish them many more Merry Christmases together as husband and wife!

Safety isn't always the first thing that comes to mind when your in a rush, focused on something else or you become complacent. You always want to be safe because nobody plans on having an accident, if you have tools that reduce the chance of having an accident, use them.

Hey, awhile ago i started too organize a makers swap. It will be a great way too meet another maker and spread your work! I'm getting names together now. All u gotta do is Create a Christmas ornament in your craft. Any medium. Wood, paper, leather whatever. Keep it a surprise! I'll be putting all the names in a generator and I'll let you know who you got by the end of the month (so y'all can introduce yourselves and swap shipping addresses) !

I was working on putting a router table in the wing of my table saw, so when I got it all done I tried an oggee(spelling) bit around the top of this scrap piece of wood. After I got that done around the top I thought, hey this would be cool as a little box or pencil box. So I cut it and hollowed out the bottom and here is the finished but not finished(little humour with a play on words) product.
I gave it to my youngest daughter for her to use.

What do you all think? Feed back would be greatly appreciated.

Here is the update on the pallet wall backsplash for the stove. This is with everything coated in poly, this way it can be cleaned easier if needed and I like things shiny.

I wanted to say thank you again to @gunflint_designs & @milescraft2002 for the giveaway Mark did a little while back. The gear I received from @milescraft2002 kicked a$$, all I had was the push stick that came with my table saw.
The Grabber, like the name implies, grabs wood extremely well and I haven't experienced any slip with it. The handle is angled so when you use it your hand is up and away from the blade which is nice.
The push stick is slim in design which helps when you are cutting thinner pieces. The handle of the pushstick is also slightly angled which for a lefty is nice. It is very light in weight and the material that makes contact with the wood is soft and grips well.
The featherboards are stackable for thicker stock. I haven't needed to cut anything thick enough to need them stacked. The featherboard is a little tricky when you have to make big adjustments but easy when it's just small adjustments. Tightening the k***s on the featherboards are easy and they lock relatively quick. Having the featherboards is great for keeping the stock snug to the fence which is great for keeping your cuts straight.

This is my current project. The stainless steel back splash to the stove got old and the wife and I thought a pallet wall would look cool. I have trouble doing things the easy way so I figured I would miter the boards lol but I think after I get the same boards on the left and right I'll run them straight across the top. As for the 5k giveaway I would use all of them for my woodworking, I'm in need of dust collection as well.

I won @gunflint_designs 3k giveaway and I woke up to the box being here this morning. Needless to say I shot out of bed to open the @milescraft2002 box. This was what I won, I can't tell you how much these are needed. All I had was the push stick that came with my table saw so these will make a big difference and will also make me safer in the shop.
If you haven't checked out @gunflint_designs go and check him out he does amazing work and has a great IG page. Go check him out he's killing it!
These are my first @milescraft2002 products and I will keep you posted on how they do but I'm impressed with how solid the push block, Grabber(3403) feels as well as the rubber gripper bottom. I will keep you all posted with pics as well.
