Thanks so much to all who visited my booth this weekend! Talking to you all made my first Arts Walk an absolute joy.

In these photos, you’ll see me working on my live painting demo✨

I was overwhelmed by how excited people were to watch me paint. I got to do what I love most: paint a portrait of a special person that my client will treasure forever. And visitors got to watch my painting process up close and personal.

I know a lot of people were excited to see the finished portrait. Stay tuned! I’ll be posting a photo of the completed painting of little Zara tomorrow!

You’ll also see my partner Payton, who many of you got to chat with this weekend, manning the prints table. I’ve always been more comfortable making art than selling it, so having Payton with me to connect with people who come to watch me paint is a real lifesaver.

“Bedtime Story” (July 2026)

This digital drawing uses only two colors: yellow and purple. I slowly built up transparent layers of color to create depth and communicate a single, strong light source.

This exercise is a great way to practice thinking about where light is coming from in a piece and how it interacts with my subjects. It’s so satisfying to see how quickly an image can come together with just a series of highlights.

“Night and Day” (July 2026)

Moths are so beautiful when you get the chance to look up close. They are very important little bugs: they work hard to pollinate flowers every night after the butterflies and bees have gone to sleep.

These moths are based on real specimens that I studied for a painting class at Evergreen. Such a great opportunity to admire all the delicate features I don’t usually get to see. (I believe they’re a black-rimmed prominent moth and a white-dotted prominent moth.)

I’m starting to dip my toe back into digital art. I’ve been challenging myself to replicate my usual painting techniques digitally. What do you think: does it look painterly?
